Welcome to Northern Gauja!
Our boat base and recreation area "Mežrozītes" is located in one of the least populated places in Latvia – Valka municipality, Zvārtava parish. This is a quiet place rich in forests and river landscapes, which is part of the protected landscape area Ziemeļgauja.With us begins a 23-kilometer-long section of the Gauja River, where the left bank is Latvia and the right bank is Estonia.
Here the river is calm, without rapids, and surrounded by untouched nature. This will appeal to lovers of peaceful relaxation because, even on the hottest day of the season, you won’t encounter large crowds of people.
We offer our guests canoe rental, well-equipped tent sites, and archery lessons.
Boats
Our boats are designed for two adults + a child. They are very stable and spacious, made of fiberglass. Of course, the set includes single-bladed paddles and life jackets.
Routes are adapted to your wishes. The most popular are Vireši - Mežrozītes (22 km, 5–7 h); Gaujiena - Mežrozītes (11 km, 2–4 h); Mežrozītes - Lēģerīši (14 km, 2–4 h) and Mežrozītes - Aņņi (24 km, 5–7 h)
We will also plan multi-day routes.
Recreation area
Tent sites are located both right on the riverbank and in the well-kept yard area. There are fire pits, tables, and everything necessary so guests can relax comfortably.
We are not a typical campsite, because we welcome our guests as visitors who have come to отдых in the peace of the countryside, close to nature.
WIFI, a refrigerator, and phone charging are available.
If you feel too lazy to cook dinner, we will gladly prepare it – a hearty soup. This is for an additional fee.
By the river, a group of about 20 people can stay comfortably; in the yard area – about 40.
Archery
If you want to learn the basics of archery, I invite you to an exciting and educational session!
I have set up a small, comfortable range and I have 16 years of experience in archery. The sessions are intended for beginners, who want to get to know this exciting sport.
What will you learn during the session?
Basic
safety rules and proper handling of the bow
How to stand correctly and hold the bow to create a stable shot
Shooting techniques and methods to improve accuracy
Practical exercises to develop hand–eye coordination
